There is something special about youth talking to youth about something that is both common and taboo. As a teacher, I am limited in both what I can say and how it will be heard by my students. Many other educators are too afraid, too awkward or too overwhelmed to integrate discussions of consent and assault in the classroom. For these reasons, Bad Subject is an ideal program to give presence to this absence, to give youth a voice where they feel silenced, to prevent assaults through awareness and to provide youth with role models-showing them that it is possible to survive a traumatic experience, heal, grow and make the world a better place.
